Overview
What the course covers
The PRINCE2® Project Management Practitioner (Version 7) course builds on Foundation-level knowledge and prepares participants to apply the method in realistic project situations and tailor it to the needs of a specific project. The emphasis is on judgement and well-founded decisions rather than on recalling terms.
At the heart of the course is a three-part practical workshop in which participants work on the same case study throughout. At different points in the case-study project, they decide how the method should be applied and explain the reasoning behind their choices. The programme also includes a sample exam and practical advice for the open-book exam.
The two-day (14 contact hours) programme is a PeopleCert-accredited training course that also prepares participants for the official PRINCE2® Project Management Practitioner (Version 7) exam.
Course goals
After Foundation, the next step is making the method work on real projects, and that is exactly what the Practitioner course is built around: using a case study, it shows how PRINCE2® can be applied in a specific situation and tailored to a project’s scale, risks and organisational environment. After passing the Practitioner exam, participants can start applying the method on a real project with appropriate direction.
What skills and perspectives does it provide?
Through the course, participants will be able to:
- apply the PRINCE2® principles, practices and processes to a specific project situation
- tailor the method to the scale, complexity and organisational environment of a project
- judge which step or decision fits the method in a given situation, and explain why
- map roles and responsibilities onto a real project organisation
- assess a project’s business case, plans and risks and recommend the next step on that basis
- use the official PRINCE2® book efficiently in the open-book exam and in day-to-day work
